With all the Bad news going on in the world it is always refreshing to read such positive news.
A few weeks back, when Tinie Tempah visited Nigeria, ace photographer TY Bello met up with the British-Nigerian rapper for a This Day Style magazine photo shoot , they had decided to shun the typical studio set and shoot in the streets of Lagos.By Fate and definitely a Miracle a bread seller found her way unto the shoot and became the breakout star.
In TY Bello’s words
"Olajumoke a bread hawker from
the Sabo market bakery , walked entirely by coincidence unto our set of our
Thisday style shoot for @tiniegram The moment didn’t look special at all. If
anything she stood there a little confused .. Some people asking her to leave
the set and others asking her to stay . I signaled if it was ok to take her
photograph and she agreed and I pressed on my shutter so she could move
ahead."
“Jumoke the ‘model’ the Internet had been searching for speaks almost no English. She explained how she had worn the exact outfit in our photograph the day before and someone showed her her own photograph on his phone from face book. A mallam led her to my studio that morning.
She shot this beautiful shot on the
cover of Thisday Style and now there is more in the works for this beautiful
woman.
Some of the Opportunities that have
opened up for Jumoke include: An Internship at Makeme Salon, additional
internship at Sarisignature , a famous Lebanese owned salon on Lagos Island. One
of Ty Bello's mentors has offered to pay for her accommodation and
education,Pay Porte has also reached out for her to be a model on their next
billboard campaign.
Kudos to All involved in this transformation,
it's great to see great stories come out from the streets of Lagos.
